Tegal's interest in medical technology, especially in diagnostic and therapeutic devices, stems from the often common core technologies of our legacy products (i.e., radio frequency controls, magnetics, surface acoustic wave devices), the growth prospects for the markets into which such devices are sold, and the value that successful companies in the medical technology sector command from investors. We do not, however, underestimate the complexity and cost of the regulatory, intellectual property, design, production, marketing, and distribution issues that must be addressed in bringing innovative medical technologies to market.

For this reason, we have so far taken small steps toward gaining an understanding of the scope of these issues, and have relied upon well-known experts to assist in our evaluations of products and companies that have come to our attention in this space. In connection with our evaluation of the markets and certain devices associated with chronic, non-healing wounds, for example, we have employed the services of MP Analytics (www.mpanalytics.com) to report confidentially on the competitive landscape, reimbursement and overall commercial potential for both diagnostic and therapeutic products.

Tegal's Board of Directors includes Jeff Krauss, Managing Member of Psilos Group Managers, LLC, a healthcare investment firm. Jeff focuses on investments in the healthcare services, healthcare information technology, and medical instrumentation segments. He currently serves on the Boards of Versamed, Valera Pharmaceuticals, HealthEdge, and OneShield. In addition, we are in the process of forming a small advisory board of experienced senior executives in medical technology to advise us on opportunities that continuously come to our attention in this space.
